Idaho Accelerator Home ISIS Beam Transport

Maximum Compression electron beam profile at the exit after two acceleration sections and one 180º bend. Elecectron energy is 5MeV (±10%) and current is 8kA. Dose can be controlled by varying the sisze of the beam at the exit window.

Beam current profiles before (white upper trace) and after the 180º section (yellow trace). Electrons with large energy mismatch are cut off in the bend, loosing ~1-2kA of beam current.
ISIS unique feature: Electron beam is energy selected. Yellow trace shows that >90% of electrons are at a single energy (±10%).
