The IAC is dedicated to Homeland security operations. Because of how easily dangerous materials, such as uranium can be concealed,
there is great need for efficient detectors of these harmful materials.
This is being resolved by implementing the use of cargo scanning systems
to prevent nuclear and biological material from being imported into
the country.
Much of this is done
by the active inspection programs using accelerators both at
the IAC on Idaho State University Campus, and
the IAC airport facility. The IAC airport facility is designed for field tests to inspect
systems for fissile material detection.
Our vision is to have compact accelerators that
can detect and neutralize materials to make it safe for
the public. We support student education, basic research, national labs and private enterprise in pursuit of this.
